In 1992, the 75 km long GrünGürtel circular cycle route was signposted for the first time. It runs through the entire green belt around the city of Frankfurt am Main; since 2007 it has been linked to the Rhine Main Regional Park at this point. The regional park and green belt open up the landscape for local recreation. Here, at the Niddabrücke between the Frankfurt districts of Nied and Sossenheim, the regional park route to the Opel Zoo branches off from the GrünGürtel Radrundweg.
