At the time the place was first mentioned in 1313, there was probably already a church. The current church, built as a typical manor and patron church, was consecrated on October 8, 1901

The Prussian Minister of State Marquardt Ludwig von Printzen (1675-1725) was the owner of the village of Schorin for only two years, and yet it has been called "Marquardt" after his first name ever since. In 1892, the Berlin iron manufacturer Louis Ravené jun. became the lord of the manor here. He had the present village church built in Neo-Gothic style by the architect Paul Stegmüller (1850-1891) and decorated with cast iron reliefs from his own production. A baptistery (south) and Ravené's crypt emerge from the nave as side extensions with delicate ribbed vaults.
