Bike Touring Highlight
The Haard is the largest contiguous forest area in (or am) Ruhrgebiet. The Haard is ideal for hiking and cycling.
It should already be a MTB or trekking bike. (The floor in the Haard is soft and sandy)
You should also know that the Haard is relatively hilly.
There is the Haard Walking Park, there are seven routes and about 50km
There is a great forest trail past St. John's Cross, the Roman fountain and a gallery mouth.
In Flaesheim there is a great forest playground and the Kohlenmeiler from 1 May.
There are several lookout towers (fire watch tower)
My destination was the Waldgaststätte Mutter Wehner (There is a Wanderparkplatz)
There is still a nice location of mother Wehner ca 5.0 Km by bike across the forest
The Waldhaus Halter gateI hope you enjoy exploring the Haard, it's worth it.

Really nice! If you don't - like me - drive here on Sunday lunchtimes, when the runaway horde of affluent citizens completes the five kilometer journey by car, parks up the poor forest, and then, despite the pandemic, attacks the actually cozy forest restaurant by the hundreds. Fortunately, these accumulations are concentrated in a radius of 500 meters around the parking lots here, everything else is too exhausting. Then you can enjoy the calm mood of the Haard again.
