Hikers reach the Everest base camp at 5,364 m via a lateral moraine of the Khumbu glacier. There, they have a fantastic view of the Khumbu Glacier and the steep rise of the Khumbu Icefall, a white sea of ice below Mount Everest and Lhotse. Both peaks cannot be seen from Everest Base Camp. One can also see the large crevasses in the Khumbu Icefall.
