A tip for photographers: Most trekkers set out early in the morning to climb Kala Pattar. If you value good photos, you will regret choosing this time of day for the ascent, because in the morning you look at the sun in the direction of the main attraction of this ascent, namely the view of Everest and Nuptse. The photos are backlit, the slopes of Everest and Nuptse are in the shade, there are hardly any details to be seen. For the photographer, only the afternoon and evening are actually considered.

Mount Everest (gray mountain on the left) in all its glory! And still more than 3 km higher than your vantage point ... just the highest peak on earth.

The trip to the Kalar Patar is especially worthwhile because you can not even see the summit of Mount Everest in the base camp. Then you better climb the "balcony of the Himalayas" and enjoy the view in good weather. Many a Kalar Patar climbs only at sunset - but then you have to watch out for the descent in complete darkness!
