If the visitor returns towards the museum on the right side of the Düssel, he will come across an enormous block of limestone by the wayside, which from a distance looks like a natural stone.

It is only up close that you can see that the block has been processed. Klaus Simon has created a document of human traces of processing from the limestone.

If the visitor goes further, he will walk over the bronze spiral carved in the stone, which was embedded in the path. In his two-part work CALX, Klaus Simon is concerned with making processes visible.

The interaction of natural materials and human technology enabled the cultural and economic development that left such unmistakable traces in the Neandertal.
