No other stallion in the world's riding horse breeds has become as well-known as the Trakehner main sire Tempelwachter (1905-33). His sons and grandsons dominated the state horse breeding in East Prussia. He was cast life-size in bronze in 1932. On the base of the monument in front of Trakehnens Castle it was engraved: “To the German horse”.
