The Schoonhoven harbor ends in the Voorhaven, which is also where the Scheepmakershaven ends. The wider southwestern part of the harbor is closed by a masonry lock from 1860 (originally 1762) with flood doors and bulkhead rebates. The ebb doors were installed in 1957. Over the lock is a double wooden drawbridge for pedestrians (1990). The harbor is bridged in three places. Two of these are square-shaped dam overpasses, namely the Dam (1349) near the weigh house - with an arched edge of Gobertangesteen - and the Stone bridge.
