Heisinger Ruhraue Nature Reserve

In my opinion, one of the most beautiful sections along the Ruhr. You cycle over the paved bike path through a wetland, consisting of small ponds and tributaries of the Ruhr, crosses small bridges and cross repeatedly small forest pieces. It could go on like this forever.

The nature reserve "Heisinger Ruhraue" unites old waters of the Ruhr and wetlands, which were created by subsidence. Numerous species of birds, insects and amphibians are at home here or visit the floodplains temporarily.

Very nice section towards Baldeneysee. The path is paved and leads away from the roads through a small nature reserve and its floodplains (Heisinger Aue). On the left side of the Ruhr there is a winding tower from the Heinrich Schacht 3 colliery.
