The Strusbek is a tributary of the Bunsbach, forms the large Strusteich, after the family name Strus, the owners of Bünningstedt in the Middle Ages, the Mittelteich and the Timmerhorn pond (Papendöncken Diek).
In 1442 Bünningstedt came into the possession of the Reinfeld Cistercian monastery, and soon afterwards - probably around 1450 - the Papendöncken (Pfaffensumpf) pond and the middle pond (between the Papendöncken pond and the Strusteich) were created by the monks.
