The Casara Zebio War Cemetery holds the remains of 218 soldiers of the Sassari Brigade, who died in the bloody fighting on Monte Zebio between 1916 and 1917. A total of 6,000 Sardinians fought on the plateau, resulting in 590 deaths, 132 missing, and 2,132 wounded.
In 2011, the Municipality of Asiago donated the sacred area to the Veneto Region: now the fallen soldiers of Sassari officially rest on Sardinian soil.
