Rothenhusen is a medieval customs station and ferry from the Hanseatic city of Lübeck fortified by Lübeck in 1595 on a small island at the northern end of Lake Ratzeburg in the Lauenburg Lakes Nature Park, right at the outflow of the Wakenitz from the lake.
I particularly like the covered rest area with the fantastic view of Lake Ratzeburg. The fortification at this point served to ward off attacks by the Dukes of Saxony-Lauenburg. Rothenhusen belongs to the municipality of Groß Sarau on the Old Salt Road, but like the Wakenitz itself has been owned by the Hanseatic city of Lübeck since the Middle Ages.
A wooden road bridge from 1927, which was restored after the fall of the wall, led across the Wakenitz at this point and thus connected Schleswig-Holstein and Mecklenburg. On the Mecklenburg side in Utecht, the Schaalsee biosphere reserve connects to the nature park on the shore of Lauenburg. The old bridge was demolished in 2008 and replaced by a new bridge in 2009.de.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rothenhusen

The marked place is made for the break for self-catering. A covered table and bench combination with a beautiful view over the large Ratzeburg lake.
On the island (where cycling is not allowed though) you can have your meals and at the southern tip you have another view over the lake.

Super route around the Ratzeburg lake around. No special skills required. There are also various restaurants.
