Hiking

The memorial at the Pointe des Crolles is one of the most important monuments in the Breton port town. It was erected in 1930 to commemorate the men and women of Cancale who lost their lives in the two World Wars. It was created by the sculptor Louis-Henri Nicot, the architect A. Bolloré, and the stonemason Jules Hignard. The monument is made of granite and kersantite, a dark, durable stone from Brittany, and depicts a winged Victory figure flanked by a soldier and a sailor – symbols of Cancale's close connection to land and sea.
