Not only the old town alone is worth exploring, the old city fortifications are also worth a detour.

The small harbor town of Veere exudes a very special charm – not least because it is almost entirely surrounded by water. The town center is historically beautiful, with the large 15th-century Onze-Lieve-Vrouwekerk church and its tranquil cobblestone streets. They are surrounded by restored gabled houses, almost all of which lead to the central market square. Lovingly painted doors, entwined with flowers, create a beautiful townscape. Behind the small marina begins the biotope surrounding the old fortress wall – a perfect place for a stroll in the countryside.
