Rotthausen is a district of Schalksmühle in the Märkisches Kreis and is located south-west of the core town of Schalksmühle near the city limits of Halver on a plateau between the Glörtal, the Volmetal and the Hälvertal.Rotthausen, which initially belonged to the parish of Halver, was first mentioned in a document in the year 900, but the settlement is thought to have originated between 630 and 700, around the time of the second Saxon conquest. Rotthausen is thus one of the earlier settlements in Schalksmühle.
