Oak Flat is a highly sacred site for the Apache Nation. The latter are currently fighting for years against the extension of copper mines which would irreparably destroy this spiritual and natural site of the utmost importance.

Oak Flat is a very nice state park where you'll find a nice riverside campsite. Many shaded places are scattered everywhere. One or two wickiups (traditional Apache dwellings) are found on the site. You can also make beautiful hikes in the surroundings.
