Embark on a moderate hike along the Reavis Ranch Trail, a 7.3 miles (11.8 km) route that takes approximately 3 hours and 23 minutes to complete. You will gain 921 feet (281 metres) in elevation as you journey through the Superstition Wilderness. The trail begins with classic desert views, showcasing cacti and striking rock formations, and offers glimpses of Apache Lake. As you progress, you'll discover the unique 'forest oasis' at Reavis Ranch, a lush valley featuring pine trees, alligator junipers, and a sparkling creek. This dramatic shift in scenery provides a refreshing contrast to the initial desert landscape.

Planning your trip to Reavis Ranch Trail requires some preparation. Be aware that accessing certain trailheads can be challenging, often necessitating a high-clearance 4WD vehicle, particularly if there has been recent rain. It is strongly recommended to avoid hiking this route during the summer months. The extreme heat in Arizona during this period can make the trail unsafe and unenjoyable. Consider starting your hike early in the morning during cooler seasons to make the most of your experience.

What makes this trail particularly notable is the historical significance of Reavis Ranch itself. Beyond the natural beauty, you can explore the ruins of the historic ranch and its apple orchard, offering a glimpse into the past. This blend of rugged desert and unexpected verdant oasis, coupled with a touch of history, sets the Reavis Ranch Trail apart as a distinctive experience in the region.

Embark on an easy hiking adventure along the Rogers Canyon Trail via Reavis Ranch Trail, a 3.9-mile (6.3 km) route with no elevation gain (0 feet / 0 metres). You can expect to complete this journey in about 1 hour and 44 minutes. The trail guides you through varied terrain, from smooth, grassy hills offering views of Castle Dome to more rugged, overgrown sections within a narrow canyon. You will frequently cross a streambed, which can have seasonal water, surrounded by Arizona sycamore and Fremont cottonwoods, creating a refreshing atmosphere. This segment provides a straightforward outdoor experience in the Superstition Wilderness.

Planning your visit requires attention to access, as reaching the Rogers Trough Trailhead often demands a high-clearance 4WD vehicle due to rough, rutted, and steep dirt roads. It is strongly advised to avoid hiking during the summer months because of extreme heat. The best times to explore this area are during the spring and fall, when temperatures are more moderate. Be prepared for the journey to the trailhead itself, as it can be an adventure.

While this specific Komoot route is easy, it is part of the broader Rogers Canyon Trail system, which is generally considered medium to difficult. A significant highlight of the area is the chance to visit remarkably well-preserved, 600-year-old Salado Native American cliff dwellings. These historical structures are nestled within a large cave, offering a unique glimpse into the past. Exploring beyond this easy segment can involve substantial distance and elevation changes, with some routes featuring over 1,000 feet of descent and ascent.
