Sanctuary of Our Lady of Help

The Sanctuary stands isolated on a plateau between Mount Ercole and S.Agata on the ancient route of the road that from Sarsina to S.Agata led to Perticara and Rimini.
In ancient times there was a Celletta dedicated to the Virgin, and it was called the "Serra della Sconfitta", because here the Agatensi would have driven back and defeated an army of invaders with the help of the Virgin.Hence also the name "Madonna del Soccorso".
It was built at the beginning of the 16th century (1520) in the Romanesque style. The single nave interior shows the peculiarity of the uncovered beams, and inside a beautiful golden altarpiece, an altarpiece depicting the miracle of the Virgin of Help taking a child away from the devil called by an imprudent mother is glued.
A third miracle is also attributed to the Madonna del Soccorso: a jealous lover shot his woman in the chest piercing her velvet corset, but the woman, invoking the Virgin of Help, was unharmed. Inside the church the corset with the bullet hole is still on display.
