The Narew River is 484 km long and flows through Belarus and Poland, where it joins the Vistula near Warsaw. Its sources are in the Białowieża Forest, and its riverbed is full of meanders, oxbow lakes and branches. The Narew is considered one of the last multi-channel rivers in Europe. In the river valley you can find many species of birds, which is why part of its course is protected as the Narew National Park. It is a unique place for lovers of nature and peace.

The Narew (Belarusian Нараў Narau, Ukrainian Нарва Narwa, German historical: Nare) is a tributary of the Vistula in Belarus and Poland, 484 km long, of which 448 km are in Poland. 312 km of the Narew are navigable. In terms of natural geography, its catchment area lies in the transition zone between the Eastern European lowlands and the Central European lowlands.

The source of the Narew is in the forests of Białowieża in Belarus, north of the city of Brest. The river flows in markedly changing directions several times through glacial valleys and wide meltwater channels that were formed in the run-up to the inland ice of the Weichselian glaciation. At Nowy Dwór Mazowiecki, north of Warsaw, the Narew flows into the Vistula from the east, shortly after merging with the Western Bug, which is larger at the mouth.

The strongly meandering river is accompanied by numerous oxbows and tributaries and is considered one of the last remaining anastomosing rivers in Europe. Until a few years ago, 151 species of birds bred here in high density, such as the spotted crake, little crake, water rail, bittern, little bittern, bluethroat and sedge warbler.

The valley of the Upper Narew was protected as the Narew Landscape Park in 1985. Part of it has been part of the Narew National Park since 1996. In Poland, it is dammed at the Dębe Dam to form the Zegrze Reservoir (Wikipedia).
