A longer left and about 11 kilometer long branch, called the Große Dhünn, rises near the two Wipperfürth towns of Peddenpohl and Ritzenhaufe, flows straight through their wooded stream valley, takes in the Purder Bach and the Mausbach and is dammed in the Große Dhünn fore-dam of the Große Dhünntalsperre.
A shorter right and almost 8 kilometer long branch, called the Kleine Dhünn, rises near Hückeswagen-Dörpfeld on the Wermelskirchen border, flows through the town of Dhünn and is dammed in the Kleine Dhünn fore-dam of the Große Dhünntalsperre.
