The ancient Ottilienkirche is located next to the large parish church of St. Stephen on the Oberbessenbacher Kirchberg. Its medieval appearance has been preserved to this day. The origins of the pilgrimage church of Zur Heiligen Ottilia probably lay in a small forest and hunters' settlement from the year 1000. The earliest evidence of the parish of Oberbessenbach dates from the year 1184. In the late Middle Ages, the Ottilienbrunnen fountain belonging to the church was a place of pilgrimage for pilgrims from the area, especially with eye problems. Special feature of the Ottilienkirche: In 1732 the only high altar in Bavaria that was painted on the wall in the Baroque period was built here. After the Second World War, the art-historical importance of the old Ottilienkirche, which was renovated from 1973, was increasingly recognized. In 1975 it was rededicated to Saint Ottilia.

From here a hiking trail also leads up to the Hohe Wart.
