The St. Marien Church was the main parish church in Neubrandenburg in Mecklenburg. After extensive destruction in April 1945 at the end of the Second World War, it was rebuilt as a concert church in Neubrandenburg until 2001. It is a testimony to the north German brick building. Its east gable in particular is considered the first highlight of brick Gothic. The church tower, reconstructed in the 1980s, is the tallest building in Neubrandenburg with a height of 90 meters.

      Outside: Gothic brick church

Inside: Concert hall made of glass, concrete, steel, and wood.

As a concert church in Neubrandenburg, St. Mary's Church offers a contrasting program,

from acoustic delight to a unique architectural experience!

In 2001, St. Mary's Church entered a new era. The building remains a historical landmark

of the city, but its use has changed.

Whether it's a philharmonic concert, opera, musical, ballet, reading, or song recital –

all genres find a unique performance atmosphere and their own special sound here.

In the tower area of St. Mary's Church, the oldest surviving part of the building, the permanent exhibition "Paths to Brick Gothic – In Neubrandenburg for Defense and Ornament"

informs visitors about a style of architecture whose impressive examples can still be found in many places in northern Germany today. The exhibition is a stop on the European Route of Brick Gothic.

The climb over the bell tower to the balustrade offers an impressive view

of the city of four gates on Lake Tollensee!

In the octagon of the tower, above the exhibition and the bell chamber, a 360-degree presentation has been installed that is unparalleled in Northern Germany.

Eight synchronized projectors project a historical cityscape of Neubrandenburg around 1900 onto the historic brickwork. The eight-minute multimedia show thus conveys a glimpse into Neubrandenburg's history, culture, and settlement, as if on a journey through time.

A concert church at its finest. Very impressive, very recommendable to go up the tower. If you are lucky you can even see kestrels here. We were lucky
