This is perhaps the steepest trail we have ever made. The track is short, but you only have one or two short passes (20-50 meters) with less than 20% incline all the way!
The path is well maintained, there are almost continuous steps. On the way back normal shoes but come to their limits, you run the risk of getting blue toes! The view definitely compensates for all the efforts ...

The PR19 Caminho Real do Paul do Mar is a short route of 1.8 km and a duration of 1:20 hours. This route starts in Prazeres and ends in Paul do Mar, at an altitude between 535m and 35m.
The start of this route is at the viewpoint that offers a panoramic view of Paul do Mar and Jardim do Mar. The descent is made along the escarpment between Assomadouro in Prazeres and the Pier of Paul, between agricultural stakes supported by stone walls and formerly cultivated where mainly cereals were grown.

One of the official hiking trails in Madeira (PR19) - it goes through the valley of the 'Ribeira Seca ou do Paul', covering 550 metres in altitude. It is one of the old paths created to reach the other settlements from the remote fishing villages. A real cultural treasure!
As a special highlight, some endemic plant species can be discovered in this valley.
