The Ossuary of Oslavia was built in 1938 at Quota 153 of Mount Calvario, designed by the Roman architect Ghino Venturi. The complex was commissioned by the fascist regime to collect the remains of soldiers who fell in the various battles of the Great War fought in the area of Gorizia and Tolmino.

An impressive monument with historical roots in World War I. The staircase is awe-inspiring, the entrance stylish and commemorates thousands of fallen soldiers. Inside, there are stairs leading to several mausoleums. Each staircase made my breathing heavier, and at the bottom, I had to pause for a moment. Afterward, I walked around it with heavy and quiet steps, reading many of the names of the fallen and thinking about their times and battles that I never want to experience.
