Mount Calvario is full of largely clayey paths, but there are also dirt roads that are feasible even in periods of heavy rains. From the top there is also a downhill trail with jumps, wooden overpasses and steps, but I prefer other less worked and more natural paths, all indicated in the highlights of the area.
Downstream, towards the Groina, there is also a nice restaurant where you can dine properly (Trattoria al Ponte del Calvario): excellent wines and superb cold cuts, to try!

The first part of this itinerary winds on the slopes of one of the hills sadly famous for the battles and human losses that unfortunately marked the territory of Gorizia during the world war of 15-18: Mount Calvario-Podgora. On its top, various tombstones and monuments testify to those dramatic events.
While the first part of the route runs almost surrounded by a luxuriant vegetation of chestnut, locust, alder, oak, the second comes out into the open and the Collio hills accompany us in our effort, covered with neat rows of vines from which fruits are obtained. (among) the best white wines of Italy (or the world?). The work carried out by the Gravner Francesco Agricultural Company in the locality of Lenzuolo Bianco, behind the hamlet of Oslavia, is emblematic, where it was decided to restore the natural balance on a part of the hill dedicated to the vine.

Road blocked due to a landslide that has erased the entire paved road. Just before there is the indication for the top of Mount Calvario (241 m. altitude), reachable via a path that can be practiced on foot and MTB, not gravel!
