In 1940, the carpenter, Josef Viegener, was commissioned by the board of the SGV, with the permission of the city of Attendorn, to build a shelter "Auf der Waneleye" based on the design of the official master builder Stritter.

This was also intended to increase tourism in the Sauerland.

Visitors were to be enticed to stay at one of the most beautiful vantage points with a view of the Biggesee.

Countless hikers have hiked to this beautiful spot on earth.

Little by little, the shelter became a weatherproof and winterproof hut.

The hut is now run voluntarily by members of the SGV, where visitors can relax with coffee and cake and other delicacies.
