View of the palace in the Great Garden. The palace is one of the earliest baroque structures in the German-speaking area. Erected in 1680 as a summer palace for the Albertines, from 1730 it was used to store parts of the royal art collections. Badly destroyed in air raids in 1945. Today the facade has been completely restored, but the interior of the building has not yet been completely restored.

Yes the Great Garden is really worth a visit. Very nice well-kept facilities. Numerous side roads to the main avenue and beautiful meadows. Also a direct zoo visit is a must. So wrap blanket and good weather and a perfect finish is found

The Great Garden is always good for a trip. Either on foot, with inline skaters, by bike or with the park railway. In fine weather, a picnic in a meadow is the best :)

The palace is considered to be the first significant secular building in Saxony to be built after the Thirty Years War. It is also one of the earliest baroque buildings in German-speaking countries and is one of the most important buildings in Dresden in terms of art and culture. It is considered the "prelude" to the Dresden Baroque.
