Extensive juniper stands line the Biebersteig on both sides. The juniper with its berries is u.a. the basic substance for the gin. Place a juniper twig in a thick-necked bottle (tap a bit to prevent the animals from being preserved), add a handful of juniper berries and fill up with schnapps. Place in a sunny place on the windowsill for eight weeks and let it go. The clear liquor takes on a brown color. After eight weeks, the schnapps is strained and transferred to another opaque bottle. Juniper brandy should also be digestive.😉

I heard about this juniper trail from another hiker and that naturally made me curious. And indeed, here you will find a great forest border made of juniper trees and blueberries en masse, which cover the ground almost everywhere. Unfortunately, the juniper berries were not yet ripe and still green, otherwise I would have actually taken some branches with me to make gin myself ...
