The post mile posts erected at the beginning of the 18th century had become obsolete by the middle of the 19th century. In 1840, the distance specifications in Saxony were changed, a mile was now 7.5 km long (previously 9 km). The streets were re-measured from 1858 and then the royal Saxon milestones were erected from 1859 to 1866. One of these is still in front of the Löbau train station.
