Antalya's first city wall, dating from the Hellenistic period, was expanded in the 2nd century under Roman rule. Hadrian's Gate still stands from this structure today. Kaleiçi is the oldest district of Antalya and consists of the ancient city area, which was enclosed inside and out by city walls shaped like a horseshoe. Unfortunately, most of these walls have now collapsed or no longer exist.
