The Cala Higuera tower is an old masonry defensive tower. It was built in the 16th century and measures 224 m. In the 19th century it was abandoned but in the middle of the 20th it was restored to be used again for surveillance of the coast.

An interesting sight is the Torre de los Alumbres, an old watchtower from the 16th century. This tower is located on a cliff near Cala Higuera and offers breathtaking views of the sea and the coast. Can be reached via a difficult walk from San José with a very difficult climb to the torre
