Los Escullos is a small fishing village in the municipality of Níjar in the Spanish province of Almería in southern Andalusia. The place is located in the Cabo de Gata-Níjar Natural Park on the south-east coast of Spain and had 62 inhabitants in 2008.

In the immediate vicinity, on a hill, is the Castillo de San Felipe, a structure that has been restored today for coastal protection from the 18th century. Charles III of Spain ordered the construction of this fortification in 1771, which consisted of a battery of guns, an inner courtyard with barracks, a chapel, the outer protective wall and a barbican in front of the gate. The fort was part of a series of fortifications between Almería and Málaga and was manned by an officer, 3 non-commissioned officers and 20 soldiers. During the war against France under Napoleon (1807-1814) the fortress was disarmed. In the middle of the 19th century the structure served as a base for the Spanish coastal defense. In the 20th century, the fortress was uninhabited for a long time, was restored in 1991 and declared a Spanish cultural heritage on June 22, 1993. The visit is free
