The Bavarian Forest National Park is a national park in the interior of the Bavarian Forest, right on the border with the Czech Republic. It was founded on October 7, 1970 as the first national park in Germany in the Freyung-Grafenau district and in 1997 it was expanded to almost double the area, mainly in the Regen district. In October 2020, the Bavarian Cabinet decided to expand by around 600 hectares near the municipality of Mauth to around 24,850 hectares (248.5 km²); confirmation by the Bavarian State Parliament is still pending. [1] Together with the neighboring Šumava National Park (68,064 ha), the national park is the largest contiguous forest protection area in Central Europe.

From here you are in the national park area and you have to follow the important rules: Stay on the paths, take your rubbish with you, watch out for falling trees and falling dead wood!

You will find it after a few meters coming from Bayerisch Eisenstein.
