This small church with a single nave and no transept, illuminated by the mixtilinear window on the facade, is located in Piazza Gian Girolamo Acquaviva and borders the Belvedere del Santissimo.

It was raised to house the Confraternity of the Blessed Sacrament, founded in 1823 and officially recognized in 1826, which initially held their meetings in the Trullo Sovrano. The church was built on November 30, 1834 at the suggestion of the bishop and the brotherhood due to lack of space in the parish. Medici, although it was enlarged in the 18th century.

Renovated in 1856 and dedicated to the cult of S. Lucia, the building was the subject of several interventions until the last decade of the 19th century.

In 1904 the rector of the church, authorized by Bishop Antonio Lamberti, received a relic of Saint Lucy from Venice.
