The station was opened on January 1, 1868, the building, a standard station New Type 4th Class, has been there since 1866. It was closed again on May 15, 1938, after which it was reopened on June 16, 1940. On February 17, 2003, the station lost its ticket office, leaving it abandoned for several years. From March 2006 to August 2006, the building was under scaffolding for a necessary renovation (painting, roof repairs, jointing).

The Dutch Railways station in Vught played a major role in the transport of prisoners and Jewish transports during the Second World War.
Many Jewish men and women were deported to extermination camps via this station in 1943 and 1944.
