The nature reserve around the Heidemolen in Langdorp called Molenheide. Quote: "Molenheide is the area around the Heimolen in Aarschot. Since 1662, the Heimolen has determined the landscape on the Oude Stok. As the name suggests, you will still find heathland there as in the past... The nature reserve mainly consists of heathland and coniferous plantations. The management of the area is aimed at restoring the old heath relics that remain after many years of disturbance. This is done, among other things, by mechanically or manually digging the soil down to the original sandy soils where germinative heath seeds are still present. restoration of the heath was started in the early 2000s. In addition to the restoration of the heath, a fen was also restored during these restoration work. This had overgrown and was released during the restoration with the aim of allowing the mineral-poor water to support specific animal and would attract plant species that are rare in Flanders."
