Hamam is the name of a Turkish or oriental steam bath. The Arabic word means "warming". During a long bathing ceremony with lots of warm water and steam baths at around 45 degrees, skin flakes and deposits are removed from goat hair with a rough peeling wash glove (Kese). This relaxing lather massage (sabunlama) is the highlight of a visit to the hammam. With every burst foam bubble, a worry should also dissolve into nothing. A visit to the hammam should purify the body, mind and soul.
