The Lower Krebsteich, renovated in the 18th century, is the older and the only artificial pond in the pit that is still filled with water. Like the Upper Krebsteich, it was fed by the water of the Krebsbach. The length of the pond dam is about 120 m. In the east there is a walled overflow of the pond. The upper artificial ditch runs past the lower cancer pond to the west. The lower artificial ditch begins at the dam of the artificial pond.
