The estate of the writer Margret Boveri gives an insight into the eventful history of the castle near Höfen. It is a building that breathes history - that "lake house" that the snackers coming from Bamberg's Bruderwald have to leave behind shortly before their destination, the shady garden of the Melber country inn. Few of them will know that Federal President Theodor Heuss was a guest here, as was the Nobel laureate and discoverer of the rays of the same name W.C. Röntgen or the aircraft designer Willy Messerschmitt. The castle is closely linked to the name and family of the writer and journalist Margret Boveri, who spent her summers here.
