To get to the castle earlier, you had to pass the gatehouse. This was where the guards stayed and tax money was collected in the form of road tolls. The castle gate in Eilendorf was also secured with a chain bridge so that no enemies could easily get into the castle. The place of the chain bridge is still visible today. Today there is an exhibition about the history of the castle hill in the gatehouse.

Hiking

In 2015, the Eilenburg Castle Association acquired the building in front of the old castle gate, which was built around 1800. In 2019, the extensive renovation work was completed and after two years of construction, a modern castle hill information center was created.
