Uetze / Dahrenhorst: west bank Spreewaldseen | These lakes are not located in the Spreewald, but near the village of Uetze in Lower Saxony. It is a recreational area with beach, campsite and an area for mobile homes on Irenensee and a residential area on the Spreewald lakes.
The area consists of two artificial water bodies: The larger lake is the Irenensee; The second lake is shaped by the creation of promontories and islands so that it looks like a river and channel landscape. It borders on a miracle how naturally everything works and actually reminds of the Spreewald. The shores are lined, as in the original, by weekend cottages with boat moorings. But these are not "dachas", but pretty wooden houses with beautiful plots. In recent years, the area has been converted into a residential area of about two hundred plots.
In winter and in the early spring it is still wonderfully quiet and a walk through the lake landscape and the adjacent forest area is very relaxing. Even the waterfowl enjoy the peace.
In summer it is due to the leisure activities rather lively.
