High water mark at the Gonnermann restaurant in Berneburg. The cloudburst of June 14, 1864 resulted in a devastating flood. The Sontra burst its banks, bringing destruction and death. Chronicles and historical newspapers report that 7 or 8 people, 100 cattle, up to 2,600 sheep and pigs fell victim to the water masses. In addition to Berneburg, Rockensüß and Heyerode were also affected.
