The villa rises high on the hill in the center of Seeliger Park. On one side of the building are the entrances to casemate 1, which is also open to the public on guided tours, and casemate 2, which was uncovered in 2006 and leads to casemate 3. They belong to the former bastion that was located here in ducal times. The bastion was about ten meters high and stood where the villa stands today, Kertscher explains. This has nothing to do with the original fortifications. 1899 reveals a weather vane on the roof of the building. At this point the time of the fortress was long over, because in 1750 the dukes went back to Brunswick. From 1800 to 1833 the bastion was removed to its present height.Source and more info
