Wonderful, panoramic and quiet route along the Vinschgau Sonnenberg, from Schluderns to Laas - highly recommended.

The Vinschgauer Höhenstraße is a special "delicacy" among the many beautiful streets of the Vinschgau. Starting in Schluderns, the fairly narrow route climbs right over from the beginning with the best views of the surrounding 3000 m across meadows, the slope being tidy but not too stressful. This leaves enough air to enjoy the view over to the Ortler, the Taitschroi and the Tschengelser high wall. At the Ortlerblick guesthouse you can reach the plateau of the road and although the route continues to rise gently, the slope is barely noticeable. About 400 m below you will find the wide valley of the Vinschgau at your feet. The view to the east is towards the Laaser Spitze. The road now turns off into the Tanaser valley and curves there, still slightly uphill, through sparse mountain forest. Coming out of the side valley, you reach the summit of 1560 m above Tanas. Again, you can once again enjoy a magnificent view, before going downhill to Laas, past Allitz goes. At first moderately, later neatly steep it goes curvy and on quite well developed track to valley, at the latest on the last piece from Allitz it is really fast. The drive in the opposite direction is of course equally beautiful, but the rise of Laas is much steeper and longer and the descent to Schluderns through the narrower and generally poorer track less enjoyable.

At the Vinschger Sonnenberg it is often unbearably hot in the summer months, which is why you should either start very early or late. In the spring or autumn, however, an absolute dream with a great lighting mood.
