Tips

  • At the beginning of 1800, this building was already a lodging house (inn). It is then called the "Blue Horse". Ownership is then Eggo van Dijk and Free Besseling. The couple has 2 daughters who both run a hotel. Daughter Eggediena takes over the Blue Horse. In 1845 the lodging house comes into the hands of Eggediena, who is married to Derk Mulder. They will call the building "Logement de Nederlanden", after a famous hotel in Utrecht. At home and abroad, however, it was known as lodging Randa Mulder. German pastors who visit the many German brick factories in Winschoten and the surrounding area like to stay here. In 1870 Mulder went bankrupt and the inn was already taken over by nephew Abel Jan Ruibing. The name of the company then changes to Hotel de Nederlanden. The Ruibing family remains owners for several generations until the hotel closes. In 2011, a shop (drug store) will be built in the building.
