At this point the Ginsheimer Altrhein joins the Greater Rhine waterway. The Old Rhine begins at the Steindamm near Trebur, flows along the southern island of Langenau and the northern island of Nonnenau and flows back into the canalized Greater Rhine after about 6.3 km.
