The Evangelical Mauritius Church is a church building in Holzgerlingen in the district of Böblingen, Baden-Württemberg. The tower was built in Romanesque style. The nave of the church, which was first mentioned in a document in 1275, was added asymmetrically before 1250. The Romanesque tower, which is vaulted with cross ribs on the inside, is the oldest part of the church. It is 45 m high, stands on 2 meter thick foundation walls and served as a defense tower. It is asymmetrical to the nave and has Romanesque window reveals. Holzgerlingen was first mentioned in a document of Emperor Heinrich II in 1007, which can indicate the time when the tower was built.[1] South of the church tower is a barrel-vaulted ossuary (little mortuary) from 1481 built into the former churchyard wall. Today the church is recognizable as a late Gothic building, which dates back to a conversion or new construction from 1473. The ship is closed with a flat ceiling. The ribbed vault of the chancel has keystone reliefs that e.g. Mary with the child, the church patron Mauritius and an angel with a shield. The colors of Austria white/red and the Palatinate lions were used.
