The emblematic 25-storey skyscraper, located at the end of Madrid's Gran Vía, in the Plaza de España, is one of the most representative buildings of the Madrid skyline. At 117 meters high, it is the eighth tallest skyscraper in the city, which throughout its history has housed hotels, shopping malls, homes and offices.

Around Plaza Espana there are many large and beautiful buildings.
One of the most striking buildings is the Edificio España. Construction work on Edificio España, designed by Julián and José María Otamendi, began in 1948 and was completed in 1953. The building is 117 meters high. The Edificio España was the tallest in Spain and Europe in its day, although it was soon overtaken by the neighboring Torre de Madrid, built by the same architects a few years later.
The building houses the four-star Hotel Riu Plaza España with 583 rooms and 17 meeting rooms.
