In the evening, they light up green - illuminated at night, thus, a widely visible landmark that shines silver in the sunlight during the day. The two "eggs" are the digesters of the sewage treatment plant Dortmund-Deusen. Before the construction of the plant in 1994, the wastewater flowed untreated into the Emscher. From the area of Dortmund-Mitte, above all Dortmund-Nord, above all, three quarters of industrial wastewater. Only a quarter are household wastewater.
