More than 1200 graves lie in front of the north gate of Hierapolis. They belong to the largest ancient city of the dead in Asia Minor. House-shaped sarcophagi can be found there, temple-shaped houses of the dead and tumulus graves, inside of which there is often a burial chamber with benches. Numerous inscriptions provide information about the dead. 2000 years and earthquakes have left their mark on the graves.
